1

La Paz - Arrival

First Class: La Casona La Paz or similar accommodations

You will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of your day at leisure to explore La Paz or relax and adjust to the shift in altitude.

La Paz - Copacabana - Sun Island

First Class: Albergue Ecologico La Estancia or similar accommodations

Enjoy breakfast at your hotel and begin your tour by private transport from La Paz with a wonderful view of Lake Titikaka along the way. You will reach Copacabana first, a lovely lakeside town. You will visit the town’s church and the famous “Virgen Morena.” Here you will board your boat to cross the lake to Sun Island. You will have lunch in Huacani in the Atapi tradition, typical of the highlands. Continue your boat ride until you reach the ruins of Pilkokaina Inca Temple. From here you will hike to La Estancia for an unbeatable view of Lake Titikaka. (B,L)

Sun Island - Copacabana - La Paz

First Class: La Casona La Paz or similar accommodations

You will want to rise before breakfast to catch the colorful sunrise over the lake. Later, you will hike through Yumani visiting the Inca stairs and the Water of the Eternal Youth. Travel north by boat to visit the Chincana ruins and the Sacred Rock. Continue to the Island of the Moon and the Inca ruins of Inak Uyu temple. You will reach Copacabana by boat then board your private transfer to La Paz with amazing views of the Andes Mountains. (B,L)

Explore La Paz

First Class: La Casona La Paz or similar accommodations

Enjoy your day at leisure to explore the city on your own or join an optional tour. We recommend a city walking tour of Hormigón Armado and Teleférico. Guided by a “lustra bota,” you will gain a unique perspective of the city. The tour starts with a short visit to the cemetery, continuing to the “Fish Street Market,” the “Flower Market” and the “Uruguay Market” where various species of animals and innumerable varieties of food can be sampled. The tour continues to Eloy Salmon Street, lined with shops and stalls selling the latest technology, and to the “Cholitas Market” where Cholitas can be seen shopping for traditional skirts and blankets. Next, a visit to the popular “Belen” dining room and “Rodriguez Market.” The tour concludes at San Pedro Square where the well-known San Pedro prison is located. Following the tour is a relaxing ride on Teleferico, the cable car above La Paz. Rest your feet and enjoy the breathtaking views of La Paz. (B)

La Paz - Uyuni

First Class: Palacio de Sal or similar accommodations

After breakfast you will be transferred to the airport for your morning flight to Uyuni (tickets not included). You will be met upon arrival and transferred to Uyuni village. This unique and natural wonder with over 10.5 km2 salt is truly special. Enter this unique natural wonder of salt to the Isla Incahuasi, a special habitat of volcanic rocks and giant cactus. Continue to the north to visit the pre-Columbain fort of Ayque Pucará and the nearby chullpares, both on the foothills of the Thunupa volcano. Later, continue to Colchani to enjoy a beautiful sunset. Tonight you will stay at the Palacio de Sal Hotel, an amazing hotel where virtually everything – walls, ceilings, chairs – are made of salt. (B,L,D)

Uyuni - La Paz

First Class: La Casona La Paz or similar accommodations

Start your day early by joining an optional excursion to witness an unforgettable Uyuni sunrise. Take in the peaceful landscape as the sun rises overhead. Later you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to La Paz (ticket not included) where you will be met upon arrival and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure or join a half-day tour to the Tiwanaku Ruins (not included). Only 30 minutes from La Paz, yet centuries away, you will witness examples of the Aymaran way of life as you approach Tiwanaku. Dating back to 1580 B.C., Tiwanaku was one of the most important pre-Inca civilizations and was considered to be among the most developed at the time. You will visit the Kalasasaya temple and the stone Gate of the Sun, the Ponce and Fraile monoliths, as well as the Apakana pyramid and semi-underground temple. Also included in this tour is a visit to two local museums to view traditional pottery, stone-work and learn about the culture. (B)
